Inuyama Castle

Today is valentines day and i was surprised that nobody was wearing red! well we are not in the Philippines anymore and they said that the color red is associated with the really old japanese folk so....

from the Inuyama train station we walk to the castle talking the road by the river, there we saw ducks, many of them, huge coys hanging around by the city sewage outlet (maybe it was not a sewage outlet, the water flowing did not look dirty) one big white bird, that we first thought was a goat :D and was probably there for the fish.

Inuyama Castle is beautiful and had 4 full sets of samurai armour on display inside, we went to the top of the castle where you will get a 360 view of the city.

As soon as we went down, i water colour painted a japanese pine tree and a cherry tree, there was no more time to draw the castle so i just took a picture of it with the prodding child and ned flanders.

I chose to spend the day with my wife and not let her wait around as i sketched or painted :D

I also had my sketchbook stamped twice.

We had lunch in a traditional japanese restaurant where we had some kind of seafood ramen and veggie miso ramen, both with flat noodles, when the seafood ramen was served it was steaming hot and the steam going up made the veggie toppings move, a cool sight to see check it out!

After a wonderful lunch, we walked around some shops and in one tea house there was a trio that jammed with two bamboo flutes and a shamisen.

In another tea house there was a girl who played the flute and two guys playing the drums with her, she invited us for tea but we did not have time for that anymore, we had to go to the temple on the other side of the city, but only 20 mins walk from the Inuyama Castle.

At the temple you can see the castle from afar and below the temple is a cemetery which we also visited, by the cemetery was another small temple (i think) which had a zen garden, it was beautiful.

After taking pictures of froggie on the middle of the train tracks, we went to the inuyama bridge to watch the sunset. on the bridge you can also see the castle from a distance.

During our trip home, we met a Filipina lady who was going home from work, she was happy for us because we spent our day on a 'date' (that's what she said). she was probably tired from work but still smiling and friendly but was not wearing red....

Surprisingly when we got home, our host was wearing red :D she said because it is Valentines Day
