sketches at socorro, surigao del norte

Socorro is a small town where you can use as your base when you want to go exploring the island or go island hopping at bucas grande island. i think we will be coming back to this place in the future, there is still alot of beautiful nooks left to be explored.

it was almost 5pm when we arrived at socorro town port from island hopping at bucas grande, we got a room at balanghay resort, which was the first big structure next to the port's public market. and the public market is just next to the port. after checking-in, we went around and was immediately attracted to the aroma of freshly baked 'mongo bread'.

we ate some then proceeded to find a christian church that i can draw, but the church was not to my liking so i decided to go back to the port and find something interesting to draw. i found the houses by the port and had to quickly finish it because it was starting to rain.

the next day, we woke up early and took a habal habal ride to kapihan resort, it is a mountain resort but currently there are no big trees surrounding the area because they had a forest fire 2 years ago which nearly burned down all the area  near the resort, thankfully the resort now is filled with growing plants and trees.

while waiting for our udong with sardines breakfast, i sketched the guest house which has a very nice panoramic view of the socorro bay and the pacific ocean

this is me drawing the guest house, and our habal-habal driver tata

after we had breakfast i sketched part of what i saw from the view deck, i could not fit all of the view on a medium sized notebook, so...

then we decided to go to their 'natural jacuzzi' area, on our way there, we stopped by the 2nd zipline tower from the other side of the hill and i did some finger painting with my android device.

when we arrived at the natural jacuzzi area, i did not have time to draw anymore but i took some photos and a video capture for the prodding child i can only share a photo of me courtesy of the traveling kit

on our way back to town, i found a tree i can climb on and pose for a picture. a hundred meters infront of me was a dead crow hanging from a bamboo pole with a net, maybe the crow got caught by the net, we did not go closer to investigate.

before we took the 12noon pumpboat back to hayangabon port, i sketched the this scene from outside our window in the hotel, outside were kids playing a form of gambling that involved tossing of coins.

facilities at socorro town:
-ukay ukay
-grocery stores
-internet cafes
-one shop that sells halo-halo, home-made ice cream and hamburgers
-at balanghay resort i think you can buy your own food ingredients and cook it yourself.
-there are air-conditioned and non-airconditioned rooms at balanghay resort.
