sketches at socorro, surigao del norte

Image
Socorro is a small town where you can use as your base when you want to go exploring the island or go island hopping at bucas grande island. i think we will be coming back to this place in the future, there is still alot of beautiful nooks left to be explored. it was almost 5pm when we arrived at socorro town port from island hopping at bucas grande , we got a room at balanghay resort, which was the first big structure next to the port's public market. and the public market is just next to the port. after checking-in, we went around and was immediately attracted to the aroma of freshly baked 'mongo bread'. we ate some then proceeded to find a christian church that i can draw, but the church was not to my liking so i decided to go back to the port and find something interesting to draw. i found the houses by the port and had to quickly finish it because it was starting to rain. the next day, we woke up early and took a habal habal ride to kapihan resort, it ...

The Islets of Bucas Grande

Image
when i started sketching the islets, i thought i was using a pencil but soon realized i was using charcoal on paper. These islets are what you see when you hang around the cove where the crystal cave and tundan cave are at. on our way to kanlanuk falls from the mangrove area i sketched our pumpboat and the last mangrove tree we saw before leaving for more islets and hillsides fronting the water on the pump boat i had a realization and had to write it down before i forget it. by the time i was done we were greeted by the hills of kanlanuk bay, lined with mango trees and other fruit bearing trees.

the deer and the eagle

Image
Three days ago I went to the Philippine Eagle Park again with Kikit, Anna K and Sam, we looked at the eagles, hawks, deers, one warty boar, a pair of owls, a crocodile and lots of monkeys. We also checked out the stuffed philippine eagles and a video featuring the majestic philippine eagle in flight and in the wild. I brought my 'The Travel Teller' notebook given by Olan and here are the first sketches id did on it. i think deers are wise animals. mindanao is the most handsome philippine eagle in the park i also had fun drawing with Sam as we relaxed and listened to the heavy thunder claps beneath really dark afternoon rainclouds. Sam is going through a bunny phase and she did draw a bunny, the one at the bottom, and i drew kikit wearing a bunny hat, Sam also wanted me to draw a real bunny so i attempted to draw it, then she draw the flowers and the clouds and the birds. Then sam drew the house and the butterfly and the bird, and she wanted me to...

sunrise at puting bato peak and snorkeling at maxima

Image
Our third time at Puting Bato Peak, we were greeted by the sun with painted-clouds and white-low-flying-clouds that formed a line just above the sea in the middle of Davao Gulf, probably the white-low-flying-clouds wanted to watch the sunrise too. On this trip with me was, Kikit , Olan , Jonalier, Erwin, JV, Fra , Sarah and Nicole . After we did Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi, we went down from the peak, had breakfast at Penaplata public market (balbacua, nilat-an na baka, ginisa na octopus) then proceeded to Maxima Beach Resort. Maxima Resort is really made for everybody who has an active lifestyle, water slides, canopy walks and water rides are among its premier activities. They also have diving boards for those who want to master their fear of heights and deep waters. What me and Kikit really loved about Maxima is its 100ft deep (600ft wide) coral wall were you can go snorkelling or diving. We found more than regular sizes of Parrot Fish and Cornet Fish among Giant Cla...

Sitio Inamong Sketches

Image
Matigol falls looked very majestic when we visited it yesterday, the weather was good to us and it rained the night before, so there was alot of water rushing through and it was just great! But i could not do some sketches there because the area was filled with mists!, i was too busy having so much fun, i was too busy taking it all in, i was to busy hanging on to dear life as we scaled the river from the bottom falls to the top-most area. The day after we went to Matigol falls (and straight to the top basins, kawa in bisaya) i sketched the area around the Manobo Community. We were here last year, for more info about that trek read on:  last saturday sketches from matigol
